Thistle and Millie – Shelter to Soldier’s two newest service dogs in training with their trainers.

We are so pleased to announce that Thistle has been adopted by Shelter to Soldier through Three Dog Bakery, Encino’s co-sponsorship! Thistle is a very sweet and loving, young Golden Retriever mix who was adopted from Labs and More rescue. She is settling in nicely to the Shelter to Soldier program and is bonding with their animal care and training teams more every day. She is such a gem and STS has said “we are very lucky to have her in our program! She is going to make her future veteran handler very happy one day.”

Thistle has begun her 90 day evaluation period where she will be training every day and exposed to public settings to ensure that she is stable and eager to have the life of a working service dog. We will keep you updated as her journey progresses as we get updates from Shelter to Soldier!

Our co-sponsorship will pay for her training, boarding and eventual placement. Should the training team find that Thistle will not be a good fit for a veteran – our sponsorship will also pay for her continued training & placement as a emotional support dog.

If you’d like to help us with that effort – we will post a way for you to directly help with Thistle’s training on our website shortly, and of course, we will post updates on her progress as her training continues.
